Department of Mathematics, School of Science organized an Expert Talk on “Modeling Aspects in Earth Science” on 23rd February 2024. The resource person of the session was Dr. Sanjeev Anand Sahu, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics and Computing, IIT(ISM), Dhanbad. Around a hundred participants were highly enriched with the session which was focused on the application of various modeling techniques to understand and simulate complex processes within the Earth's system.
The School of Science has organized a Thirty-Hour Value-Added Course on a much-needed topic of the time, “Universal Human Values”. Fifteen-Hour lectures have been completed with special sessions on “Design for Human Values” by esteemed resource Professor Dr Satyabrata Das, and Shri L K Tiwari addressed the participants on “Renunciation”.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club (Swadhaya), SoS in association with Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and OPJU Innovation Center organized an Ideathon Contest “Ignite with Innovation”. Students from across the departments divided into eight teams participated in that event with their outstanding problem-solving ideas towards observed real-life problems in the surroundings with great zeal and enthusiasm.

Movie Scoop, this event was planned by the faculty and student club coordinators of the School of Science to fulfill the objectives of Cine Club, OPJU to create opportunities for social and educational development through participation and observation by watching a recent inspirational movie and analyzing various social aspects and general studies based on the storyline and plots of the movie.

The key speaker for the session was Prof. Jyoti Bhoy, Lecturer, Dept. of Botany, PG Govt. College Tamnar. In the session, she explained about the diversity of medicinal plants available in local region and the method of their conservation.

In the session, she explained how the changing climate increases stressors that weaken plant resilience, disrupting forest structure and ecosystem services.

Dept. of Biotechnology, SoS, OPJU organized a visit to Jindal Power Horticulture and Dairy Department, Rabo Dam for the students of B.Sc. (H) Biotechnology I Sem. In the Horticulture Department, students explored the variety of plants and their medicinal importance. Whereas in Dairy, students learnt about the breeding, feeding, and treatment methods of dairy animals. They also came across the collection, packaging, and distribution of milk from the dairy Farm.
'National Mathematics Day’ every year is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the renowned Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. SoS in association with the Society for Science Studies celebrated the special day by organizing two excellent events, Power Point Presentation, and Quiz Competition.

Students came to know about the advanced techniques of the Biochemistry Laboratory and visited the emergency ward and O.T. They learned about the process of waste management in the hospital.
Dept. of Biotechnology, SoS organized an Industrial visit for the students of B.Sc. (Hons) Biotechnology-III Sem. to Subhangi Pariyojna-JSP Sanitary Napkin Production Unit. Students got exposure to know about the raw materials used, the process of production of sanitary napkins, the manufacturing cost as well as marketing and distribution.

Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) in association with OPJU Eco Club and the School of Science organized an online session on "Innovation and Startup Ecosystem Enabler" on 26th of August, 2023. The resource person of the session was Mr. Ravi Sharma, Director, Global Healthcare Survey; Founder and CEO-Visok Advisors. The Session was coordinated by Dr Taniya Sengupta Rathore, Associate Professor and co-coordinated by Dr Sanjay Singh, Professor, SoS, OPJU. (Hons) Biotechnology on 16th June 2023. The Resource Person for the session was Dr. Sushma Patel, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Botany, Kirodimal Government Arts & Science College, Raigarh. She explained about 35 different leafy vegetables available in Chhattisgarh with their medicinal importance in her lecture.

OP Jindal University organized Parents Summit-2023 on April 27 & 28, 2023. As a part of this event, the School of Science conducted it for the parents of the students of SoS on April 27, 2023. The Parents' meet was full of hue and grandeur. There was a departmental presentation and discussion followed by a central event in which Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr R.D. Patidar addressed the parents and the students. A few parents shared their feedback on the event and their experience with the teaching-learning and extra-curricular activities undergone by their wards in OPJU. The Parents Summit 23K was overall a huge success with the contribution of the faculty and staff members, students, and all its stakeholders.

The applications of biotechnology include therapeutics, diagnostics, and genetically modified crops for agriculture, processed food, bioremediation, waste treatment, and energy production.
